Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Popular historic sites such as Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Stromforsin Ruukki are in your itinerary. Take a break from the city and head to Nuuksio National Park and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Helsinki: Arboretum Mustila (in Elimaki), Valkmusa National Park (in Siltakyla) and Kotka (Riverside Park, Lehman, &more).

Paris, France to Helsinki is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and ferry. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Paris to Helsinki due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Paris in August, expect nights in Helsinki to be about the same, around 13°C, while days are a bit cooler, around 24°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 26th (Sun) so you can catch the flight to Kuusamo.

Kuusamo

Kuusamo is a town and municipality in Finland. Visiting Karhunkierros and Riisitunturi National Park will get you outdoors. Appreciate the collections at Hannu Hautala Nature Photography Centre and Salla Museum of War & Reconstruction. Venture out of the city with trips to Suomussalmi (Hossa National Park & Martinselkonen Wilds Centre), Paikanselan Taistelualue (in Salla) and Pentik Hill (in Posio). Spend the 30th (Thu) exploring nature at Syote National Park. And it doesn't end there: hike along Pieni Karhunkierros Trail, look for gifts at Riipisen Wild Game and Souvenier Shop, explore the striking landscape at Julma Olkky, and relax in the rural setting at Palosaari Reindeer and Fishing Farm.

You can fly from Helsinki to Kuusamo in 3.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of train and bus. In August, Kuusamo is little chillier than Helsinki - with highs of 20°C and lows of 10°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Sat) to allow time to travel to Pori.

Pori

Pori is a city and municipality on the west coast of Finland. Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Sun): stroll through Herrainpaivat Beach, see the interesting displays at Kirsti - Sailor's Home Museum, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Old Rauma, and finally enjoy the sea views from Kylmapihlaja Lighthouse Island. On the 3rd (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: enjoy the sand and surf at Yyteri Beach, get outside with Kuuskajaskari, and then stop by Ruokapuoti Lumo.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Kuusamo to Pori in 7.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of bus and train. When traveling from Kuusamo in September, plan for somewhat warmer days in Pori, with highs around 17°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 8°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Tue) early enough to drive to Turku.

Turku

Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Tue): learn more about the world around you at Turku Biological Museum, then see the interesting displays at Louhisaari Manor, then stroll through The Archipelago Trail, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Archangel Michael's church. Keep things going the next day: kick back and relax at Bellevue Beach and then hike along Tulliniemi Nature Path.

Traveling by car from Pori to Turku takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. September in Turku sees daily highs of 18°C and lows of 7°C at night. On the 6th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Hanko.
