Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Let the collections at Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Design Museum capture your imagination. Fortress of Suomenlinna and Rock Church are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Take a break from Helsinki with a short trip to Stromforsin ruukki in Ruotsinpyhtaa, about 1h 20 min away. Pack the 18th (Wed) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park. There's more to do: find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area and enjoy the sand and surf at Hietaranta Beach.
