Imatra

— 18 nights
Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Get some cultural insight at Sandcastle Lappeenranta and Church of St. Nicholas. Popular historic sites such as De tre korsens kyrka and Lappeenrannan kirkko are in your itinerary. Explore Imatra's surroundings by going to Lappeenranta (South Karelia Museum, ECCO Outlet, &more), Parikkala (The Parikkala Sculpture Park, Siikalahti Wetland, &more) and Ylamaa Gem Society (in Ylamaa). There's much more to do: admire the sheer force of Imatra Waterfall, enjoy the sand and surf at Lempukka Beach, step off the mainland to explore Malonsaari, and take in the dramatic natural features at Kummakivi Boulder.

To see where to stay, maps, more things to do, and other tourist information, refer to the Imatra vacation planner.

Katowice, Poland to Imatra is an approximately 22-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and car. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Katowice to Imatra. When traveling from Katowice in June, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Imatra: temperatures range from 22°C by day to 11°C at night. You'll set off for home on the 16th (Fri).
