An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Change things up with a short trip to Ranua Zoo in Ranua (about 1 hour away). There's much more to do: make a trip to Santa Claus Village, see Santa Claus Office, examine the collection at Santa's House of Snowmobiles, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Napapiirin Porofarmi.
