An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Take a break from the city and head to Nature & Wildlife Tours and Ranua Zoo. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Isokuru and Korundi House of Culture. Step out of Rovaniemi with an excursion to Amethyst Mine Lapland in Luosto--about 1h 30 min away. There's still lots to do: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church.
