Jyvaskyla

— 2 nights
Jyväskylä is a city and municipality in Finland and in the western part of the Finnish Lakeland. Change things up with these side-trips from Jyvaskyla: Petajavesi Old Church (in Petajavesi), Jamsa (Vitikkala Manor & Himos Ski Resort) and Old Church of Keuruu (in Keuruu). The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at The Alvar Aalto Museum, brush up on your military savvy at Finnish Air Force Museum, take in the views from Karkisten Silta, and enjoy the scholastic atmosphere at University of Jyvaskyla.

For more things to do and tourist information, read our Jyvaskyla trip planner.

Helsinki to Jyvaskyla is an approximately 3-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or fly. In January, Jyvaskyla is a bit cooler than Helsinki - with highs of -7°C and lows of -14°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Sat) early enough to go by car back home.
