Imatra— 2 nights
Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Imatra: Lappeenranta (Saimaa Canal, Lappeenranta Fortress, & more), Lusto - The Finnish Forest Museum (in Punkaharju) and The Parikkala Sculpture Park (in Parikkala). Next up on the itinerary: take in the dramatic scenery at Imatra Waterfall, admire the engineering at Imatrankoski, take in the spiritual surroundings of Tainionkosken Church, and pause for some serene contemplation at De tre korsens kyrka.
