Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Kids will enjoy Lempukka Beach and Angry Birds Activity Park. Change things up with these side-trips from Imatra: Kerimaki Church (in Kerimaki), Lappeenranta (Lappeenranta Fortress, Sandcastle Lappeenranta, &more) and Lusto - The Finnish Forest Museum (in Punkaharju). And it doesn't end there: admire the sheer force of Imatra Waterfall, walk around The Parikkala Sculpture Park, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Church of St. Nicholas, and admire the engineering at Imatrankoski.

To see where to stay, more things to do, photos, and tourist information, go to the Imatra attractions planner.

Expect a daytime high around 7°C in October, and nighttime lows around 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
