Traveling by car from Rovaniemi to Posio takes 2 hours. In January, plan for daily highs up to -11°C, and evening lows to -19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Tue) early enough to travel to Pelkosenniemi.

Step off the beaten path and head to Pyha-Luosto National Park and Luosto. Inari

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. Get in touch with nature at Juutua Nature Trail and Lake Inari. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Inari Reindeer Farm and Hippupuoti Gift Shop. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Inari: Gold Prospector Museum (in Tankavaara), Pyha-Nattanen Fell (in Sodankyla) and Saariselka (Saariselka Reindeer Farm & Angry Birds Activity Park).
