Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Turku Castle and Kirsti - Sailor's Home Museum. Visit Old Rauma and The Church of the Holy Cross for their historical value. Change things up with these side-trips from Turku: Pargas Lime Stone Quarry (in Pargas) and Ruokapuoti Lumo (in Rauma). Oulu is a city and municipality of inhabitants in the region of Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. Visit Oulu Cathedral and Haukipudas Church for their historical value. Do some cultural sightseeing at Raahe Museum and Tietomaa. Change things up with a short trip to Kemi Church in Kemi (about 1h 25 min away). Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like The Astuvansalmi rock paintings and Imatra Veteran’s Home Museum. Visit Ruokolahden Kirkko and Joutsenon kirkko for their historical value. Explore Imatra's surroundings by going to Saimaa Canal (in Lappeenranta) and Puumalan Lake (in Puumala). There's lots more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Rautjarven kirkko, head off the coast to Lammassaari Island, admire the sheer force of Imatra Waterfall, and get in on the family fun at Angry Birds Activity Park.
