Daughter of the Baltic

Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
On the 5th (Sun), take in the spiritual surroundings of Kamppi Chapel of Silence, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Helsinki Cathedral. Keep things going the next day: admire the landmark architecture of Temppeliaukio Church, then learn about all things military at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, and then don't miss a visit to Senate Square.

Milan, Italy to Helsinki is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Milan to Helsinki. Traveling from Milan in December, things will get a bit cooler in Helsinki: highs are around 3°C and lows about -3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Mon) so you can fly to Rovaniemi.

Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 7th (Tue): get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, then see Santa Claus Office, and then don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village. Keep things going the next day: stop by LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier.

Fly from Helsinki to Rovaniemi in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. In December, Rovaniemi is a bit cooler than Helsinki - with highs of -6°C and lows of -13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 8th (Wed) to allow time for the flight back home.
