Imatra— 3 nights
Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.Explore hidden gems such as St. George Church and Lammassaari Island. Get some cultural insight at Wolkoff House Museum and The Astuvansalmi rock paintings. Change things up with these side-trips from Imatra: Niivermaki Nature Conservation Area (in Kouvola), Lappeenranta (Sandcastle Lappeenranta & Lappeenrannan raatihuone) and Salpa Line Museum (in Miehikkala). There's still lots to do: learn about all things military at Imatra Veteran’s Home Museum, admire the sheer force of Imatra Waterfall, explore the historical opulence of Olavinlinna Castle, and pause for some serene contemplation at Church of St. Nicholas.
