An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Tatuka Reindeerfarm and LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier. Santa's House of Snowmobiles and German Soldier s Cemetery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with a short trip to Ranua Zoo in Ranua (about 1 hour away). And it doesn't end there: get engrossed in the history at Rovaniemi Local History Museum, identify plant and animal life at Napapiirin Porofarmi, see the interesting displays at Muonion Kotiseutumuseo, and let little ones run wild at Angry Birds Park.
