Explore Kotka's surroundings by going to Stromforsin ruukki (in Ruotsinpyhtaa) and Valkmusa National Park (in Siltakyla). Although predominately an industrial town, Imatra boasts a long and impressive history of tourism, largely owing to its fierce rapids, considered to have been Finland's first ever tourist attraction.
Venture out of the city with trips to Savonlinna (Savonlinna Herostatue - The Hero's Grave, Savonlinna Cathedral, & more), The Parikkala Sculpture Park (in Parikkala) and Saimaa Canal (in Lappeenranta).
