An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
On the 1st (Fri), look for gifts at LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier, see exotic creatures in open habitats at a safari tour, then see Santa Claus Office, and finally don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village. Keep things going the next day: hit the slopes at Ounasvaaran Hiihtokeskus Oy, then Head underground at Syvasenvaara Fell, then get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, and finally engage your brain at Pilke Science Centre.
