Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Go for a jaunt from Rovaniemi to Ranua to see Ranua Zoo about 1 hour away. There's lots more to do: make a trip to Santa Claus Village, tour the pleasant surroundings at Napapiirin Porofarmi, see Santa Claus Office, and engage your brain at Science Centre Pilke.
