Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Kaivopuisto. There's much more to do: find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, admire the masterpieces at Kansallisgalleria, get engrossed in the history at The National Museum of Finland, and admire the landmark architecture of The National Library of Finland.

Kick off your visit on the 9th (Fri): tour the pleasant surroundings at Tourujoen Luontopolku, get engrossed in the history at Toivolan Vanha Piha, then examine the collection at The Craft Museum of Finland, and finally admire the masterpieces at Jyvaskyla Art Museum.

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
On the 10th (Sat), let little ones run wild at Angry Birds Park, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church, then examine the collection at Santa's House of Snowmobiles, and finally make a trip to Lordi's Square.
