Daughter of the Baltic

Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Step out of Helsinki to go to Espoo and see Nuuksio National Park, which is approximately 48 minutes away. There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Temppeliaukio Church, brush up on your military savvy at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, contemplate the long history of Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum, and pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral.

You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Rome to Helsinki due to the time zone difference. When traveling from Rome in August, plan for cooler days and slightly colder nights in Helsinki: temperatures range from 24°C by day to 13°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Thu) early enough to catch the flight back home.
