Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step out of Rovaniemi with an excursion to Ranua Zoo in Ranua--about 1 hour away. And it doesn't end there: find something for the whole family at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church, don't miss a visit to Lordi's Square, and see Santa Claus Office.

Helsinki to Rovaniemi is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also take a train; or drive. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Helsinki in December, with highs in Rovaniemi at -6°C and lows at -13°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Levi.

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
On the 6th (Mon), grab your bike and head to Levi Ski Resort. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: join the crowd at Icekarting Levi and then make a trip to Lapland Hotels SnowVillage.

You can drive from Rovaniemi to Levi in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In December, daily temperatures in Levi can reach -6°C, while at night they dip to -15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) early enough to catch the flight back home.
