Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Kids will enjoy Temppeliaukio Church and Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali). Pack the 12th (Mon) with family-friendly diversions at Linnanmaki Amusement Park. There's still lots to do: learn about all things military at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral, take an in-depth tour of Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum, and admire the masterpieces at Kansallisgalleria.

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Thu): make a trip to Lordi's Square, then take an exotic tour of a safari tour, then see Santa Claus Office, and finally don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village.

Fly from Helsinki to Rovaniemi in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. In November, Rovaniemi is a bit cooler than Helsinki - with highs of -2°C and lows of -7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 15th (Thu) early enough to catch the flight back home.
