Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
On the 1st (Thu), fly down the slopes at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort and then pause for some serene contemplation at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel. Here are some ideas for day two: examine the collection at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center, then look for gifts at Hippupuoti Gift Shop, and then see exotic creatures in open habitats at Lapland Safaris Saariselka.

Helsinki to Saariselka is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and bus; or drive. In April, Saariselka is a bit cooler than Helsinki - with highs of 3°C and lows of -6°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Fri) so you can go by car to Levi.

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Sat): explore the landscape on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort. Traveling by flight from Saariselka to Levi takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 3°C in April, and nighttime lows around -4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Sun) to allow time to drive to Rovaniemi.

Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Mon): get some fabulous bargains at Marttiini Store Old Factory, get to know the resident critters at Ranua Zoo, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church. On the 6th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village, see Santa Claus Office, and then head outdoors with Outdoor Activities.
