An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.

Start off your visit on the 15th (Wed): engage your brain at Pilke Science Centre, then identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, then see Santa Claus Office, and finally don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village. Krakow, Poland to Rovaniemi is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Krakow to Rovaniemi, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. In August, Rovaniemi is little chillier than Krakow - with highs of 20°C and lows of 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Levi.

Getting from Rovaniemi to Levi by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In August in Levi, expect temperatures between 19°C during the day and 9°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Fri) early enough to travel to Inari.

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. Kick off your visit on the 18th (Sat): head outdoors with Lake Inari and then examine the collection at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center.
