Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Take a break from Rovaniemi with a short trip to Ranua Zoo in Ranua, about 1 hour away. There's lots more to do: make a trip to Santa Claus Village, see Santa Claus Office, get curious at Science Centre Pilke, and get engrossed in the history at Arktikum.

Geneva, Switzerland to Rovaniemi is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of car and train. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Eastern European Standard Time (EET), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Plan for cooler temperatures traveling from Geneva in December, with highs in Rovaniemi at -6°C and lows at -13°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 15th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Levi.

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Change things up with these side-trips from Levi: Safartica Yllas (in Yllasjarvi) and Lapland Hotels SnowVillage (in Kittila). Spend the 16th (Thu) on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort. It doesn't end there: join the crowd at Icekarting Levi and stop by Elan Ski Shop & Rental.
