Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Mon): look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas and then make a trip to Santa Claus Village. Here are some ideas for day two: make a trip to Santa Claus Office and then take an in-depth tour of Arktikum.

Lyon, France to Rovaniemi is an approximately 11.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Lyon to Rovaniemi due to the time zone difference. Prepare for much colder weather when traveling from Lyon in January: high temperatures in Rovaniemi hover around -10°C and lows are around -17°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Saariselka.
