Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Mon): look for gifts at LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier and then don't miss a visit to Lordi's Square. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: examine the collection at Santa's House of Snowmobiles, then identify plant and animal life at Napapiirin Porofarmi, then take an in-depth tour of Rovaniemi Local History Museum, and finally stroll the grounds of German Soldier s Cemetery.

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. Explore hidden gems such as Reindeer Farm Petri Mattus and Hippupuoti Gift Shop. Change things up with these side-trips from Inari: Saariselka Reindeer Farm (in Saariselka) and Gold Prospector Museum (in Tankavaara). There's lots more to do: take some stellar pictures from Otsamo Fell, pause for some serene contemplation at Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church, examine the collection at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center, and relax in the rural setting at Inari Reindeer Farm.
