Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Visiting Nuuksio National Park and Stand-Up Paddleboarding will get you outdoors. Explore hidden gems such as Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Cathedral of Porvoo. When in Helsinki, make a side trip to see Porvoo Old Town in Porvoo, approximately Porvoo away. Manchester of the North

Finland's third largest city, Tampere boasts an array of cultural offerings and a lively music scene.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sun): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tampereen Tuomiokirkko, then view the masterpieces at Galleria Ronga, then look for all kinds of wild species at Hatanpaa Arboretum, and finally take in panoramic vistas at Pyynikki Park and Observation Tower.

Getting from Helsinki to Tampere by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a train; or take a bus. August in Tampere sees daily highs of 68°F and lows of 50°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Sun) early enough to travel to Rovaniemi.

Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
On the 16th (Mon), get to know the resident critters at Ranua Zoo, then don't miss a visit to Lordi's Square, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church. On the 17th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour.

Traveling by combination of train and flight from Tampere to Rovaniemi takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. When traveling from Tampere in August, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Rovaniemi: temperatures range from 63°F by day to 49°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Tue) to allow enough time to fly back home.
