Saariselka

Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
Start off your visit on the 10th (Mon): get outside with Lapland Safaris Saariselka and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel. On the next day, fly down the slopes at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort and then examine the collection at Gold Prospector Museum.

You can fly from Helsinki to Saariselka in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or drive. In January, Saariselka is little chillier than Helsinki - with highs of 15°F and lows of 1°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
