Daughter of the Baltic

Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Get in touch with nature at Nuuksio National Park and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Shop till you drop at Hakaniemi Market and Academic Bookstore (Akateeminen Kirjakauppa). There's still lots to do: stop by Katajanokka, examine the collection at Mannerheim Museum, learn more about the world around you at Natural History Museum (Luonnontieteellinen Museo), and pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral.

Dusseldorf, Germany to Helsinki is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and ferry. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Eastern European Standard Time (EET), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Plan for little chillier temperatures traveling from Dusseldorf in October, with highs in Helsinki at 10°C and lows at 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sat) early enough to fly back home.
