Joensuu to Saariselka is an approximately 6.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Joensuu in December: high temperatures in Saariselka hover around -7°C and lows are around -17°C. Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Change things up with a short trip to Lapland Hotels SnowVillage in Kittila (about 46 minutes away). Spend the 8th (Tue) on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort. There's still lots to do: bet on your favorite at Icekarting Levi, make a trip to Giewont Husky Adventures, experience rural life at Ounaskievari Reindeer Farm, and explore the galleries of LUVATTUMAA - Levi Ice Gallery.

Getting from Saariselka to Levi by flight takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In December in Levi, expect temperatures between -6°C during the day and -15°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Thu) so you can go by car to Rovaniemi.

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step out of Rovaniemi with an excursion to Ranua Zoo in Ranua--about 1 hour away. The adventure continues: get in on the family fun at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus, see the interesting displays at Christmas House Santa, look for gifts at Marttiini Store Old Factory, and don't miss a visit to Lordi's Square.

Traveling by car from Levi to Rovaniemi takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to -6°C, and evening lows to -13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
