An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Thu): see exotic creatures in open habitats at a safari tour, see Santa Claus Office, and then don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village. Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Tue): get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, then get in on the family fun at Angry Birds Activity Park, and then examine the collection at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center. On your second day here, fly down the slopes at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort and then look for gifts at Hippupuoti Gift Shop.
