Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Change things up with a short trip to Ranua Zoo in Ranua (about 1 hour away). There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Arktikum, see Santa Claus Office, make a trip to Santa Claus Village, and get curious at Science Centre Pilke.

Zurich, Switzerland to Rovaniemi is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of car and train. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Eastern European Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Start off your visit on the 26th (Mon): explore the wealth of natural beauty at Urho Kekkonen National Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: hike along Juutua Nature Trail and then examine the collection at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center.
