Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Natural History Museum (Luonnontieteellinen Museo). Head to Hakaniemi Market and Academic Bookstore (Akateeminen Kirjakauppa)for plenty of shopping. There's much more to do: find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, get engrossed in the history at The National Museum of Finland, admire the striking features of Johannes Church, and visit Katajanokka.

Kaunas, Lithuania to Helsinki is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and ferry; or drive. On the shores of the country's largest lake system, Lappeenrata serves as the economic and cultural center of southeast Finland.
