Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Get some historical perspective at Mannerheim Museum and Sea Fortress Suomenlinna. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Bellevue Beach and Arboretum Mustila. Venture out of the city with trips to Sipoonkorven Kansallispuisto (in Vantaa), Hiidenvuori (in Iitti) and Riverside Park (in Kotka). Spend the 16th (Sat) exploring nature at Ekenas Archipelago National Park. There's still lots to do: explore the world behind art at Kansallisgalleria, hunt for treasures at Hakaniemi Market, admire the striking features of Temppeliaukio Church, and view the masterpieces at ARTag Gallery.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Helsinki Vantaa Airport, Turku Airport and Tampere-Pirkkala Airport. In March, daily temperatures in Helsinki can reach 3°C, while at night they dip to -5°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
