Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Let the collections at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum capture your imagination. Temppeliaukio Church and Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali) will appeal to history buffs. Step out of Helsinki with an excursion to Nuuksio National Park in Espoo--about 48 minutes away. Start off your visit on the 26th (Wed): pause for some serene contemplation at Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church, see the interesting displays at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center, and then surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour.

Traveling from Helsinki in June, things will get a bit cooler in Inari: highs are around 16°C and lows about 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 26th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Akaslompolo.
