Daughter of the Baltic

Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Get some historical perspective at Mannerheim Museum and Temppeliaukio Church. Natural History Museum (Luonnontieteellinen Museo) and Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Helsinki: Tuusula (Tuusulanjarvi (Lake Tuusula) & Halosenniemi Museum) and Sipoonkorven Kansallispuisto (in Vantaa). There's much more to do: wander the streets of Katajanokka, explore the galleries of Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Helsinki Cathedral, and admire the masterpieces at Kansallisgalleria.

To find other places to visit, reviews, more things to do, and more tourist information, refer to the Helsinki travel route website.
