Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Rovaniemi is known for wildlife, museums, and fun & games. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: find something for the whole family at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus, see Santa Claus Office, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church, and get some fabulous bargains at Marttiini Store Old Factory.

Valletta, Malta to Rovaniemi is an approximately 12-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Valletta to Rovaniemi. Traveling from Valletta in December, expect Rovaniemi to be much colder, temps between -6°C and -13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Thu) early enough to drive to Levi.

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Get out of town with these interesting Levi side-trips: Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park (in Muonio) and Lapland Hotels SnowVillage (in Kittila). And it doesn't end there: grab your bike and head to Levi Ski Resort, bet on your favorite at Icekarting Levi, fly down the slopes at Yllas Ski Resort, and have some family-friendly fun at Kids' Land.

Drive from Rovaniemi to Levi in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to -6°C, and evening lows to -15°C. You'll set off for home on the 16th (Mon).
