Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Take a break from Rovaniemi with a short trip to Ranua Zoo in Ranua, about 1 hour away. There's much more to do: get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, examine the collection at Christmas House Santa, make a trip to Santa Claus Village, and Head underground at Syvasenvaara Fell.

London, UK to Rovaniemi is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and train; or do a combination of car and ferry. You'll lose 2 hours traveling from London to Rovaniemi due to the time zone difference. Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
On the 2nd (Fri), get outside with Lake Inari, then see the interesting displays at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center, and then surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 3rd (Sat): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel, fly down the slopes at Urho Kekkonen National Park, and then stop by Hippupuoti Gift Shop.

You can drive from Luosto to Saariselka in 2.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. In October, plan for daily highs up to 3°C, and evening lows to -2°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sat) early enough to travel to Levi.

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Sun): explore the striking landscape of Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park. On the next day, explore the landscape on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort.
