Inari

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. Take a break from the city and head to Urho Kekkonen National Park and Juutua Nature Trail. Step off the beaten path and head to Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church and Lake Inari. Step out of Inari with an excursion to Gold Prospector Museum in Tankavaara--about 1h 25 min away. And it doesn't end there: see the interesting displays at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center, get a taste of life in the country at Reindeer Farm Petri Mattus, tour or see a show at The Sami Cultural Centre Sajos, and relax in the rural setting at Inari Reindeer Farm.

You can drive from Luosto to Inari in 3.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 13°C in September, and nighttime lows around 4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Tue) early enough to drive to Rovaniemi.

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Wed): see Santa Claus Office, see the interesting displays at Christmas House Santa, then explore the different monuments and memorials at German Soldier s Cemetery, and finally admire the masterpieces at Korundi House of Culture.
