Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Santa Claus Village and Arktikum. The adventure continues: find something for the whole family at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus, make a trip to Lordi's Square, hit the slopes at Ounasvaaran Hiihtokeskus Oy, and take an exotic tour of a safari tour.

Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Tue): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saariselka S:t Paulus Chapel, surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, then look for gifts at Hippupuoti Gift Shop, and finally examine the collection at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center. On the 5th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: fly down the slopes at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort and then find something for the whole family at Angry Birds Activity Park.

Traveling by car from Rovaniemi to Saariselka takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Rovaniemi in January, expect a bit cooler with lows of -20°C in Saariselka. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Wed) early enough to travel to Levi.

Levi

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Levi Ski Resort and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Step out of Levi to go to Kittila and see Lapland Hotels SnowVillage, which is approximately 46 minutes away. There's still lots to do: fly down the slopes at Kids' Land, make a trip to Giewont Husky Adventures, stop by Elan Ski Shop & Rental, and bet on your favorite at Icekarting Levi.

Fly from Saariselka to Levi in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In January, daytime highs in Levi are -11°C, while nighttime lows are -21°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 8th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
