An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step out of the city life by going to Ounasvaaran Hiihtokeskus Oy and Safaris. There's lots more to do: get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village, and see Santa Claus Office.

Inari is Finland's largest, most sparsely populated municipality, with four official languages, more than any other in the country. On the 21st (Sun), identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, then see the interesting displays at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center, and then pause for some serene contemplation at Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: trek along Juutua Nature Trail and then experience rural life at Inari Reindeer Farm.
