Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Kansallisgalleria will appeal to museum buffs. Step off the beaten path and head to Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum and Katajanokka. Venture out of the city with trips to Arboretum Mustila (in Elimaki), Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo) and Cathedral of Porvoo (in Porvoo). Spend the 12th (Thu) exploring nature at Teijo National Park. There's still lots to do: browse the exhibits of Mannerheim Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of Temppeliaukio Church, see the interesting displays at Vantaa Art Museum, and get engrossed in the history at The National Museum of Finland.
