Take a break from Helsinki with a short trip to Nuuksio National Park in Espoo, about 48 minutes away. An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
On the 4th (Sun), get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, Head underground at Syvasenvaara Fell, then see Santa Claus Office, and finally don't miss a visit to Santa Claus Village. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: enjoy some diversion at Angry Birds Park, then pause for some serene contemplation at Rovaniemi Church, then examine the collection at Santa's House of Snowmobiles, and finally stroll the grounds of German Soldier s Cemetery.
