Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Head to Market Square Kauppatori and Artisaanifor some retail therapy. Popular historic sites such as Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali) are in your itinerary. Take a break from Helsinki with a short trip to Nuuksio National Park in Espoo, about 48 minutes away. There's lots more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kamppi Chapel of Silence, take a stroll through Ullanlinna, and buy something for everyone on your list at Kamppi Shopping Centre.

Kick off your visit on the 10th (Mon): tour the pleasant surroundings at Riihiniemen Uimaranta, look for all kinds of wild species at Hatanpaa Arboretum, and then browse the range of quality goods at City Sokos. Traveling by combination of train and flight from Tampere to Inari takes 6 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Tampere in June, expect nights in Inari to be about the same, around 7°C, while days are little chillier, around 16°C. An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
