An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step out of Rovaniemi to go to Ranua and see Ranua Zoo, which is approximately 1 hour away. There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Arktikum, make a trip to Santa Claus Office, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rovaniemi Church, and find something for the whole family at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus.
