Outdoor pursuits--ranging from cross-country skiing and snowmobiling to reindeer safaris and chasing Northern Lights--draw the largest number of tourists to Saariselka.
On the 21st (Tue), see the interesting displays at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center and then get all the equipment you need at Saariselka Ski & Sport Resort. Keep things going the next day: tour the pleasant surroundings at Urho Kekkonen National Park.

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Get out of town with these interesting Levi side-trips: Safartica Yllas (in Yllasjarvi) and Lapland Hotels SnowVillage (in Kittila). Spend the 23rd (Thu) on two wheels at Levi Ski Resort. There's more to do: bet on your favorite at Icekarting Levi and stop by Elan Ski Shop & Rental.

You can drive from Saariselka to Levi in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to -6°C, and evening lows to -15°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 25th (Sat) so you can go by car to Rovaniemi.

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Change things up with a short trip to Ranua Zoo in Ranua (about 1 hour away). There's much more to do: find something for the whole family at SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus, have fun at Santa Claus Office, don't miss a visit to Lordi's Square, and get engrossed in the history at Arktikum.
