Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step off the beaten path and head to Ounasvaaran Hiihtokeskus Oy and Napapiirin Porofarmi. Kids will enjoy SantaPark - the Home Cavern of Santa Claus and Ranua Zoo. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Santa Claus Village, let little ones run wild at Angry Birds Park, get engrossed in the history at Arktikum, and enjoy some diversion at Santa Claus Office.

Madrid, Spain to Rovaniemi is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of car and train. The time zone difference moving from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Eastern European Standard Time (EET) is 1 hour. Plan for much colder temperatures traveling from Madrid in December, with highs in Rovaniemi at -6°C and lows at -13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Levi.

Levi

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Kids will enjoy Giewont Husky Adventures and Levi Ski Resort. Take a break from Levi with a short trip to Lapland Hotels SnowVillage in Kittila, about 46 minutes away. It doesn't end there: relax in the rural setting at Ounaskievari Reindeer Farm and join the crowd at Icekarting Levi.

Getting from Rovaniemi to Levi by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to -6°C, and evening lows to -15°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) so you can go by car to Inari.

Traveling by car from Levi to Inari takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a bus. In December, daytime highs in Inari are -7°C, while nighttime lows are -17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 12th (Sun) to allow time for travel back home.
