On the shores of the country's largest lake system, Lappeenrata serves as the economic and cultural center of southeast Finland.
Visiting Imatra Waterfall and Riverside Park will get you outdoors. Venture out of the city with trips to Repovesi National Park (in Kouvola), Arboretum Mustila (in Elimaki) and Lammassaari Island (in Imatra). And it doesn't end there: examine the collection at Lappeenranta Fortress, get in on the family fun at Angry Birds Activity Park, explore the activities along Saimaa Canal, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Joutsenon kirkko.

Jyväskylä is a city and municipality in Finland and in the western part of the Finnish Lakeland. Visiting Evo Hiking Area and Himos Ski Resort will get you outdoors. Venture out of the city with trips to Ahtari Zoo (in Ahtari) and Kuopio (Kuopio Market City Hall, Room Escape Games, &more). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at The Alvar Aalto Museum, walk around Maki-Matin perhepuisto, learn about all things military at Finnish Air Force Museum, and kick your exploration up a notch at Laajis.
